Time Strategies

This semester is definitely going to challenge me in terms of time management, but I think it's going to be fine. I need to definitely set aside plenty of time for any of the storytelling assignments, as I found that last semester in the sister class Indian Epics these definitely took much much longer than I originally planned. However, due to a catastrophically unfortunate but unavoidable class schedule leaving me with 3+ hours of dead time between my morning and afternoon classes, I'm optimistic that I can get the majority of each week's coursework while I'm physically at school. My goal is to read as much as possible early on in the week, so Tuesday and Wednesday assignments can get done early. That should leave me with ample time for research and pen-to-paper (or fingers-to-keyboard) time.

It's funny how busy people never get less busy. I read The Myth of "Too Busy" for this assignment, and I wholeheartedly agree with the author's proposal: "Too busy" is an easier, more comfortable, and lazy way of stating that one simply hasn't prioritized well. My entire family, myself included, falls into this category. I think it's how we were raised, and I want to make a serious attempt to re-prioritize the way I choose to spend my time this semester. I don't want to work deadline to deadline, frantically rushing to click "submit" minutes (or seconds) before a quiz or submission is due. Instead, I want to give myself a solid cushion and ample blocks of time specifically dedicated for individual assignments. It's a little more planning, but if I can avoid my classic blunder of "It's not perfect yet!!!" and skip wasting two hours to find the perfect image, I should be in good shape to start the semester out right.

I was lucky enough to be off Monday mornings for school, so that's going to be my weekly planning time, and hopefully I'll be able to stick to my guns about staying ahead of schedule.
